Overview
Canva scheduling, the short way round
The usual route from Canva to a social post is long: download the design, find the files, upload them to each network, rewrite the caption every time. Connected to Brandlyre, Canva skips the downloading. You browse your designs from the post editor, pick one, and every page lands in the post in order, at the size you designed it. A multi-page design becomes a carousel on Instagram, LinkedIn or Threads, a multi-photo post on Facebook, or a TikTok photo post. Brandlyre writes the captions in your brand voice, and you schedule the whole thing once. Your Canva account stays read-only throughout.
A multi-page design is already a carousel
Design the slides in Canva as pages of one design. Import it, and the pages arrive in the same order, up to 10 at a time, ready to post as a carousel.
Every page kept for the next post
Imported pages are saved in your brand's media library as well as in the post. Reuse last month's best slide without going back to Canva, or import straight into a Library folder.
Library
A Canva layout you fill in every day
Turn the first page of a Canva design into a Brandlyre design with text areas. Each day, type the new headline and date, and Brandlyre draws the text onto your layout in code, so it never comes out misspelled.

How it works
Three steps from Canva to your calendar
-
1
Connect Canva
On your brand's Designs page, connect your Canva account. You do it once per brand.
-
2
Import a design
In the post editor or the Library, choose a design. Its pages come in at their own size.
-
3
Caption and schedule
Check the copy for each channel, pick a time, and it publishes on its own.
What you can post
What Brandlyre takes from Canva
Only what an import needs, read at the moment you import. Nothing is ever written back to Canva.
| Format | Details |
|---|---|
| Your designs list | Titles and thumbnails, so you can find a design without leaving Brandlyre. |
| Pages for a post | Each page as a JPEG at the size you designed it, up to 10 per design. |
| A page for a design | The first page as a PNG background, for a layout you fill in with new text. |
| Your profile name | To show which Canva account is connected. |
What you need
- A Canva account. The free plan is enough: pages are exported at the size you designed them, never upscaled.
- Static pages. An animated page exports blank, so set Animate to None before importing.
Not supported yet
- Automatic updates. When you change a design in Canva, import it again.
- More than 10 pages from one design in a single import.
Tips
Tips for Canva designs that work on social media
Start from the right size
Pick the canvas for where the post is going: square or 4:5 for the feed, 9:16 for Stories. Brandlyre keeps the size you designed, so choose it up front.
Make page one the hook
In a carousel, the first page decides whether anyone swipes. Put the promise there and the details on the pages after it.
Keep text big and short
Most people see your design on a phone, in a feed, for a second. A few large words beat a paragraph.
Use your brand kit
The same fonts and colours on every design make your posts recognisable, and they match the palette Brandlyre keeps in your brand profile.
Switch off animation for stills
An animated page exports at its first frame, which is usually empty. Set Animate to None on any page you want to post as an image.
Canva and Brandlyre: your questions
Can I schedule Canva designs to Instagram and other networks?
Yes. Import a design into a post in Brandlyre, choose your connected channels and a time, and Brandlyre publishes it to each of them. One page posts as an image, several as a carousel where the network supports it.
Do I have to download my designs from Canva first?
No. Once Canva is connected, you browse and import your designs from inside Brandlyre. There are no files to download or upload.
Does it work with the free Canva plan?
Yes. Brandlyre exports every page at the size you designed it, which the free plan allows, and never asks Canva to upscale.
How many pages can one import bring in?
Up to 10 pages. A longer design brings in its first 10, so split it into two designs in Canva if you need more.
Why did a page come in blank?
The page is animated. Canva exports animated pages at their first frame, before anything appears, and Brandlyre stops the import rather than attach a white image. Set Animate to None on that page in Canva and import again.
Can Brandlyre edit or delete my Canva designs?
No. Brandlyre only asks Canva for read access: your designs list, page exports and your profile name. It never creates, changes or deletes anything in your account.
Does importing a design use credits?
The import is free. Each page saved to your library gets an automatic description so you can search for it later, which uses 1 of your credits per page. If your balance runs out, the page still imports without one.
